Lots of motorists enjoy going to KFC and McDonalds for a meal or Costa for a morning coffee and most people nowadays use the convenient drive thru window but they could be breaking the law and could get a big fine or points on their licence due to increasingly ludicrous Highway Code rules.
Since some absolute lunatic recently rewrote the Highway Code rules drivers could now face fines for paying by phone at the drive-thru
Drivers should be aware of the new rules when ordering food from a drive-thru or they could face a huge fine and/or 6 penalty points on their licence.
At the end of January, most Highway Code rules were updated including the hierarchy of the road. The updates seemed so ridiculous that many people believed it was a joke run my the media, but alas, it wasn’t.
It saw pedestrians and cyclists get more protections when out and about. When it fact the new crazy rules put pedestrians and cyclists in a lot more danger, luckily most have the common sense NOT to follow the crazy rules, and not walk in front of a speeding car just because the highway code says they have the right of way… Seriously, It’s like the new rules where dreamt up by a hermit who doesn’t, drive, doesn’t ride a bicycle and seldom leaves his or her home.

According to MyLondon, that lean into the window at McDonalds, with phone in hand, could mean you are breaking this crazy rule.
On top of this, tougher mobile phone laws are set to be brought in next month.
On March 25, tougher laws are set to be brought in to cover things like unlocking your device and accessing any application on your phone. This could mean drivers in drive-thrus could be subject to tougher rules in the future.
The current law bans drivers from making a call and texting while driving but the changes on March 25 will cover most scenarios including accessing the internet or taking photos
On the tougher rules being brought in next month, Edmund King, AA president, said: “The AA has long campaigned to toughen up these rules, and we welcome this announcement.
“This is a much needed upgrade of the law to help make our roads safer.
“Mobile phones offer many distractions and this sends a clear message that picking them up to use them will not be tolerated.
Mobile phones do offer many distractions but it seems as if the lunatics now in charge of updating the Highway Code have completely lost the plot in my opinion.
Utter crap…….. it’s the “highway” code.. a drive through is NOT on a highway it’s on private land… Although saying that, it does seem like laws have gone out of the window in recent years and the Gov’t simply makes up what the hell they like..
These laws do not apply on private land… and yes the new right of way laws are extremely dangerous…. Sounds like another way to reduce the population.. get rid of people without common sense ( the ones the jab didn’t get anyway)
